WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (AP) - John McCain is giving President Bush the credit for the recent $10-a-barrel drop in the price of oil. McCain told a town hall meeting in Pennsylvania that when Bush lifted the presidential ban on offshore drilling, it had a positive psychological effect on world markets.
PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon has decided against putting slot machines at Sky Harbor as a new way to boost city revenue. American Indian tribes worried the move would lead to the legalization of gambling at racetracks and bars and would cannibalize their gambling income.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid plans to introduce legislation for a federal polygamy task force. Reid spokesman Jon Summers says the Victims of Polygamy Assistance Act is aimed at increasing cooperation between federal, state and local law enforcement investigating polygamy-related crimes and providing public assistance to women leaving polygamous groups.
PHOENIX (AP) - July 5th, a Phoenix man came home to find his 6-month-old Chihuahua Taco dead, it’s body cut in two. Police began an animal cruelty investigation. But today they said that three veterinarians, after reviewing photos of the dog, concluded that it’s death was the result of an animal attack, not a human attack.
